Anola Community Website

Anola, Manitoba, Canada is a small town located 24 km east of Winnipeg, 40km north of Steinbach in the municipality of Springfield. It was first established in 1907 as a railroad stop. Its name is derived from the word "knoll," meaning a hill or mound, which the community is built on. Approximately 200 people live within its limits, but many people in surrounding areas/developments consider themselves to be part of Anola.

The idea of this site is to bring our community closer together, where everything that you could want to know about Anola, is in one place. From community events to local crafters, we want to include everything. We are starting with a design that we can build on as the information comes in, you the public are invited to send information to us, so that we can encompass everything Anola is about.

Anola & District Museum

The Anola and District Museum - only a 20 minute drive from the east perimeter on Highway #15. Open Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, June through October or by special request. Group and school tours are always welcome and can be arranged by contacting Warren Kruchak at 204-794-3069 or Susanne Wastle at 204-866-3599.

A nostalgic walk through the museum will let you feel the spirit of pioneers of the area. See the original Anola School complete with many artifacts, the original Millbrook Chapel circa 1889, and the original Anola Blacksmith shop filled with implements from bygone days.

Included on the site are a store, the fire hall with it's specially modified 1934 Ford fire truck, and one of the oldest farm homes in Springfield Municipality built in 1895.

The numerous artifacts and furnishings displayed were all used in the day-to-day life of the hard working and dedicated early settlers of the Springfield area who made their living from the land. Within the buildings you will get a glimpse of their lifestyle.

The museum has been established , maintained and managed by a dedicated staff of volunteers. All the buildings, artifacts and contents have been donated by the descendants of these early settlers.
